Armand Weston – Take Off (1978)
TAKE OFF is the one film that is on a par with the best work of Radley Metzger [aka Henry Paris]. Filmmaker Armand Weston, responsible for EXPOSE ME, LOVELY, among others, has created a dazzling film, so ambitious in scope and concept that it is almost too good for the genre. It is one of the most entertaining adult films ever made, and proves that care and concern can create a classic motion picture.
The TAKE OFF in the title is for THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY, Oscar Wilde’s story given some structural modification, and for the various take offs of motion pictures, film stars, and social climates through the decades. The late Wade Nichols plays Darrin Blue, the central character who has not aged since the twenties. At a posh pool party at his place, Leslie Bovee sneaks off with rounder Eric Edwards for an upstairs romp in the mansion. Later, when she meets Darrin, he explains the odd circumstances involved in his failure to age, and he provides her with filmed glimpses of his past.
